Potential Exhibition to visit

This exhibition is held only in Manchester and think would be worthwhile a visit from me as it seems to be relevant to my design practice.

Studio:: Eskimo Creative

Eskimo Creative is based in Manchester and has a very fun approach to each of their briefs.

The creativity of the briefs this studio tackles is inspiring and I am going to pursue the opportunity to contact them.

Studio:: Playgroup

Studio:: Unit

Studio:: Founded

Studio:: RevolverRevolver

Studio:: Well Made

Studio:: Black & Ginger

Studio:: Designers Anonymous

Designers Anonymous have a strong ethos which I think is the driving force behind great design.

Studio:: Hike

Hike are concerned with branding and communications across a variety of media. I like the fact they this company is not concerned with just 'design for print' or 'design for web' as it creates diversity between the work being produced.

Based in London, they are worth a visit when I take a trip down.

Studio:: Holmes Wood

Holmes wood are a design studio based in London. Working across print and exhibition spaces they are able to produce end results which work consistently across different mediums.

LCAD graduate Emma Price currently works here as a junior wayfinding designer.

If I get the opportunity to go to London this could be a good place to visit. In addition to this, I am going to contact Emma in regards to how to go about getting a job after university seen as she has been through the same process that I am about to endure.

Studio:: Box-Head*

Box-Head* are a Leeds based graphic design company who produce branding solutions. Their designs are simple which enables the brand to be clearly communicated to the user. They also seem to have a fun element associated with their work, which makes me think this would be a good studio to visit.

Job Opportunities

Dribble

Dribbble is a site that allows designers to showcase their work. It seems a little similar to behance, however, it could provide me with the opportunity to make contacts.

Hunt&Co.

This Melbourne based studio was previous two separate studios but have join forces in order to give them a more rounded skill set and broaden their services as the design world is changing and companies are expected to be more eclectic in their approach to design.

The work this company produces is, again, very print driven although they also push their designs into digital. This is something I want to capitalize on within my work, seen as the world is becoming more and more concerned with digital and online media. Definitely going to be watching the work produced by these guys.

SB Studio

I have come across SB Studio as a result of my blog on tumblr. Again their work is predominantly print based, however they apply print different formats, not just paper, which is something I admire about them as a company.

Based in Liverpool, it could be possible for my visit them as part of my PPD and FMP. I like the fact that they are a small company and would be very interested to see how they work and actually see some of the work they produce for myself.

HEYDAYS:: OSLO

Heydeys is a company whose work I admire. It is predominantly print driven but is creative and innovative. If I'm honest I just want to see these prints in real life ...have a touch and a smell! Unfortunately, they are based in Oslo and I don't see myself being able to get there anytime soon but you never know. I am going to keep an eye of their work as they are inspiration for my design direction.

PORTFOLIO:: Design Work

I am beginning to consider what briefs I am going to include in my portfolio. As suggested in our last PPD tutorial, I want to put in work that I am truly happy with and nothing else; the work I include needs to excite me in order for me to be able to passionately talk through it on a professional level.

Consequently, I am proposing to include the following briefs and have written what skills each brief will showcase::

-Fedrigoni: Collaboration/ Live Competition Brief/ Editorial Design

-Urban Tease: Branding/ Colour

-Hope Clothing: Branding/ Print finishes

-Inpress: Collaboration/ Branding/ Self initiated live project

(notebook designs/print collateral/event/postcard design)

PORTFOLIO:: Arrived

My portfolio has arrived today so I can begin to put together pages in time for the portfolio surgeries on the week of Monday 28th.
