I have decided that I am going to approach studios by sending them a piece of self-promotional material that includes a handwritten letter. I am hoping that the more personal approach will work better than an email, as my email attempts have previous failed.

Design Project Leeds

Through researching for one of my studio brief, I have come across Leeds based design agency Design Project. Their work looks very intriguing, so I am going to get in contact to find out more about them...

Warehouse Talent Spot

As part of Warehouse's campaign for their new store launch in Leeds, they are asking artists to submit their work to then potentially be exhibited. Although the opening of the store is not until Summer 2013, this could provide me with platform whereby my work can be viewed by a different audience.

BCN:MCR

Unfortunately, tickets for this exhibition sold out within 20 minutes! Consequently, I won't be able to attend the talks but I still intend on visiting the exhibition.

Creative Space Manchester

This is the creative space in Manchester that BCN:MCR are using for there exhibition, however, I thought this would be a good reference point should I need a creative exhibition space for any of my briefs.

After a little trouble with the file size of my portfolio PDF I have finally managed to reduce the file size enough to be able to adequately send the file to Ben.

Today I have heard back from Ben at The Beautiful Meme. He has asked to see my work as a memory jog, so I am going to send him a pdf of my portfolio as he saw it in my portfolio surgery.

Mytton Williams: Bath

A branding design agency based in Bath. This company create design solutions effectively solve problems in a creative manor. The work produced explores a full range and is even applied to 3D environments.

The work this studio produces is amazing. Definitely one to contact.

Portfolio Surgery Follow Up

As a result of my portfolio surgery with Ben Haworth, Senior Designer at The Beautiful Meme, gave me his business card and said to contact him with regards to him getting me in contact with a photographer so that I can give my design more context. In response to this request, I have sent him an email. Hopefully, this will also be the start of an industry connection for me.

Jobsboard

Another Jobsboard I have come across. This will help me identify studios who are looking for a designer to join their teams and will therefore give me more chance of getting the position.

In researching for Brief 4, I have come across 'It's Nice That Jobsboard' where design companies post job opportunities.

A couple I have found...

This is a predominantly branding based company that deals with print and how that follows on into 3D environments. This really excites me as these are the skills I am interested in developing within my FMP work.

'Plus Agency' is involved with fashion design for the creative industry. This design direction a massive part of my FMP, so an opportunity like this would be invaluable to me and enable me to develop so much.
